REVELLERS PUMP WITH 'MR FETE'

REVELLERS in Port of Spain yesterday were able to get a taste of what is to come today when they take to the streets in their numbers.

Several bands crossed the big stage at the Queen's Park Savannah and paraded before the judges and a small crowd of spectators in the North and Grand Stands.

As is customary on a Carnival Monday, the majority of masqueraders wore only parts of their costume, and were not organised in their respective sections, but will, no doubt, be out today in their full splendour.

Among some of the bands crossing the stage were The Word and Associates with the presentation Exodus, Genesis with Kaleidoscope of Red, K2K Alliance and Partners with The Waters—Seas of Consciousness and Tribe with Take Me To...

By 3p.m. , 2011 Band of the Year winner Brian MacFarlane and Associates had not yet put in an appearance at the venue. There were also several traditional mas bands featuring sailors, jab jabs and blue devils.

Unlike what is seen on Carnival Tuesday, the bands crossed the stage relatively quickly will little, if any at all, back-up of bands.

And if the playlist was anything to go by in determining who would walk away with the 2012 Road March title, Machel Montano, who already defended his Power Soca Monarch title and copped the Groovy Soca Monarch title, would manage to be called King of the Road for yet another year with "Pump Yuh Flag".

He would be closely followed by Iwer George's "No Pain".
