One on One with Kees
Year after year they continue to represent our region with pride by performing what Kees and I call World Music; the type of music that they have successfully fused Soca with. And while I have heard many compare his band to the Back Street Boys and the Jonas Bros, as we like to do in the Caribbean. I take it a step further. They cannot be compared to any other band as no other has fused our Caribbean music with other genres with such success! For that reason, they are simply the best.
I would like to applaud Kees for taking the road less traveled and turning that narrow path into massive success. I am happy that he shared his private thoughts about his music, his aspirations, his fears and his struggles with me. I saw another side to this Caribbean star that many don’t take the time to understand.
I spent time with a guy who is happy to remain normal while he pursues his dream of making music; a guy who values family and true friends over any material acquisition; a guy who isn’t afraid to share the fact that he has found the girl of his dreams. A guy who was not afraid to commend me for doing a great job and encouraged me to keep up the great work. Kees, thanks for reminding me to listen to my heart, because the mind points out all the fears.
Very often when we attain success we forget about our journey. Kees’ focus is music and keeping it real. I have no doubt that he has what it takes to be a mega star and it is only a matter of time until the rest of the world discovers that Kees Dieffenthaller has a whole lot of soul.
