Group 2 Finale: The Beat Goes On!

The second group of the Basia Survivor Network climaxed with a beautiful graduation ceremony on September 1st, 2010 at the Trinidad Hilton, after twelve weeks of sessions. This event began with welcome and opening remarks from the Programme Director, Nichelle Munroe. This was followed by an address by the Vice President of the Basia Foundation and Founder of the Basia Survivor Network – Mrs. Alicia Powell. Alicia discussed the birth of the network having been diagnosed just some months ago and how she felt seeing it mushroom into what it has become.

Entertainment was provided by Crystal Roxborough and Tracey Raymond both of whom rendered beautiful songs to the audience. The feature address was given by fashion Icon – Meiling who spoke about her admiration for both the founder as well as the ladies of the network. She surprised all members of the group with a free consultation session which was
well received. Angella Prescilla did the formal address on behalf of the members of group two. Angella being one of the quietest and most reserved of the members was well outspoken and represented the group well.

Certificates and tokens were then presented to all members of the second group by the President of the Foundation Mr. Ricardo Powell assisted by Ms. Matisha Olivier - member of the Basia Team. Mrs. Lisa Creece-Pierre made presentations of gifts and tokens to group two presenters – persons all well established in their professions who took the time out to share with us during our sessions.

The crowd was then entertained by Latin Dancers - Ade Smart and Kimberly Torres, two extremely talented individuals whose performance was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Members of group two: Arlene Ballah, June Whiskey and Cheryl Perez made presentations to “special persons” and a group song was done to Bob Marley’s, Three Little Birds. Closing remarks was done by Mrs. Nicole Apparicio-Waterman who thanked members of group one who gave back their time and talents as well as the Mr. and Mrs. Powell for all the sacrifices made to facilitate the Basia Survivor network.

The evening ended with guests being invited to share in cocktails and members danced the evening away.
