A Network of Stars

Trinidad Express, November 9, 2010

Entertainers from around the region showed real unity and came together for a good cause two weekends ago, as they performed for the Beat Breast Cancer Concert hosted by the Basia Survivor Network and State bank First Citizens.

Held at the Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain the fundraiser featured top acts, such as US-based reggae artiste Ky-Mani Marley, Jamaican pop/rock singer, Tessanne Chin, Bajan Soca Queen Alison Hinds, as well as local acts like Destra Garcia, Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez, Mungal Patasar and 3Canal, among others.
The Basia Survivor Network is the brainchild of popular TV talk show host Alicia Powell and is committed to providing emotional, financial and other support to those affected by cancer throughout the Caribbean.
After being diagnosed with the disease last year, Powell founded the Network as a way of rising above the negative cloud of cancer and giving back to the region in a positive way.
